Letters of the wife of General Richard Kennon of Mecklenburg Co., Va., and of her daughter, Sally Short Skipwith Kennon Sinclair wife of Capt. [later Commodore] Arthur Sinclair U.S.N., to Ellen Mordecai, Rachel Mordecai Lazarus, Caroline Mordecai Plunket, Moses Mordecai, Samuel Mordecai. The letters contain family news, particularly of Arthur Sinclair, and Sally Sinclair's brothers, Lt. [later Capt.] Beverly Kennon U.S.N., Surgeon George Tarry Kennon, U.S.N., Midshipmen Richard Kennon and William Henry Kennon, U.S.N., and their careers during and after the War of 1812 on vessels as the U.S.S. Congress, U.S.S. Nautilus, U.S.S. Argus, and the U.S.S. Superior.
